Hello,
Mildred Klardie was the last of the family (wife) Klardie to come from Holland to America. I don't remember her, I was born in 1962 and the youngest of 5, so the old folks were all moved away by then. Also no one was around in 1994 to tell me the old family stories when I started to research the family tree. I lived in Wisconsin USA so I really made it hard to contact family and get anywhere with it, but I did get 1 picture of Jacobus & Christiana, from another great aunt (in-law). It’s on Webshots.com, look for Klardie or heidilee107. They are sitting on the running board of an old car; was earlier then 1955 when he passed away. He & my grandfather always had a cigar. Jacob Sr was a cigar maker both in NL & USA. I have some articles from the newspaper on the 2 of them.
She b.10-31-1920 d.2010 Hillsborough NH, Mildred F. (Milly) Cushing was the wife of George Gerard Klardie Sr who was born 10-28-1918 in Bedford NH USA he died 10-25-1980. Buried in Manchester, NH Pine grove cemetery, away from the rest of the family, Klardies. They are buried in the same cemetery, but in the older part I guess.
They had 3 kids: Judith married Ned Gelinas, George Gerard Klardie Jr & Shirley May Klardie married Mark Scott Gorey. The parents of George Sr are Jacobus Lambertus Klardie Jr b.3-1-1879 s'Hertogenbosch d.3-13-1955 Bedford, NH (USA) m.12-12-1896 s'Hert.. to Christiana Margaretha van Linder b.5-12-1876 d.10-25-1970 Bedford, NH
They said to be buried in The Pine Grove Cem in Manchester, NH, I couldn't find gravestone with the children or their spouses. they had 14 Kids 4 in the USA and the 1st 2 sons and 5th were all born & died in s' Hert... the 1st was stillborn. The 3rd son & the same being the 5th kid of theirs was my grandfather, Jacobus Lambertus Klardie 3rd. born s'Hert m. Florence May Lapete.
The parents of Van Linder were Theodorus Johannes van Linder Sr & Elisabeth Feurich m. 5-4-1872 s' hert.. both born there also. His parents were Johannes van Linder & Helena Froon m. 4-22-1848 s' hert.. he b. 1825 in Antwerp en, Belgian she 1813 s' hert.
The family goes back to Antonius Claerdije s' Hert to mid 1720s. The name was spelled Claerdije, Clardij, Clardije, Klardie. Mildred was my grandfather's brother's wife, Great Aunt.
There is a story that was carried from a couple of cousins and my grand-folks that the whole bunch of the kids lived with the parents Jacob & Christiana in Bedford, NH on the working family farm. One of the articles I have, show him with his corn that he created I guess you'd say. I’ve been to the site and there is a highway in that spot now, so couldn't reminisce much.
I do have 1 memory of visiting her there but just a fleeting picture of being in the house and being so little not much else. She died in 1971 I was born in 1962 I do remember her funeral, She as you might imagine with giving birth to 14 kids was a large woman and in pics I have, seeing her in the casket was a shock, she was so tiny!
Well I hope this helps, and if theres family there that I could contact somehow through you or? Id love to see more Klardies in NL.
Thanks!
