We use the word "Teut " [ plural: Teuten] = Itinerant merchant/ craftsman/ trader from the Kempen region of Limburg / Brabant.
Haven't seen the use of the word 'Teuter' in relation to this.
Note: some Teuten changed their names, used a pseudonym, or their names were changed by others refering to the region where they traded or perhaps where they came from. Michiel Wouters is in Colomby (Lotharingen) only known as >> Michel Claude, Francis Jansen was named >> Moezel-Sus , Van Hoof became >> Von Hauft , Alen >>Ohlen to name a few.
