In 1824, what age was required to be married without consent of parents? I always thought this was 25 years; but I found this marriage:
27 Feb 1824 Eersel Cornelis Maas (25) and Catharina van de Ven (31).
The Huwelijksbijlagen includes deaths for all parents and grandparents for both bride and groom! https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9398-L9CP-W

Sorry, the marriage "akte" states "meerjarige" for both bride and groom.
I guess my real question is why all the death records were attached?
I'm glad they are because it confirms ancestors into DTB records; which can sometimes be difficult to trace otherwise.

As far as I know, in 1824 the situation was as follows:
Age of maturity : 21
Age able to marriage : 18 (male) - 15 (female)
Age needing consent of parents: 25 (male) - 21 (female)
But you have to realize that this was the period between the French domination (until 1811) and the creation of our own constitution in 1838.
Until 1809 there was a need of consent of the parents - no matter what age you had.
After 1838 you needed this consent uptil the age of 30.
I think the general policy was that some papers from the parents and grandparents were required to get married. Just to prove your parentage. Not so much for the permission.
