Thank you Paul. It is interesting to know that sisters and some others had comments about their status, but not Maria Cabri. I agree with your conclusion. By the way, according to the tree on Geni.com Maria is my second cousin twice removed. It has been difficult to research her and her two siblings (or half siblings) because all three children of Johanna Cabri (1830-1874 Hoorn) appear to have been born out of wedlock. I cannot find out if they had the same or different fathers who remain unknown.

@ Louis J. Cabri. In the civic register of the Sint Leonardusgesticht, archiefnummer 7363, inventarisnummer 1689, blad 3617, I found Maria Cabri. But unfortunately, it doesn't mention her status in this institution. The sisters seem to have been inscribed ('liefdezuster') and also several other entries were made (e.g. 'gepensioneerd'= retired, 'onderwijzeres' = teacher, 'leerlinge' = student etc.), but not for Maria Cabri. Her death certificate says she had no profession. So it seems she was not a member of the convent or working at the Leonardusgesticht. I suppose she must have been a patient, but the proof is not entirely conclusive.

I have no idea if that pops up in Paul's research, but I will ask him (Paul is not here right now so that can take a little longer...)

Yes, thanks, but if you can ask Paul Huismens, based on his research, does he think that Maria Cabri (born in Hoorn in 1869 to an unmarried mother, Johanna Cabri) went from Amersfoort to Oss in 1900 to work there or as a patient?

Ah, that's good to hear. Is the background of your cousin now a bit more clarified?

Very interesting account of the history. I was interested to read the details because I found the Sint Leonardusgesticht when researching a Cabri cousin who was admitted in 1900 and died there in 1903.
