just seen your message, unfortunately I do not any of the decals of patches you mentioned. The only picture of my father I have was taken during WW2 on operations with the REME somewhere in France or Holland.

Misschien heeft John Appleby nog emblemen of patches van zijn vader in zijn bezit. En foto hiervan zou mooi zijn.

John Appleby may still have decals or patches from his father in his possession. And a photo of this would be nice.

Martin Boers, my father, unfortunately passed away on August 11, 2023. If John wants to have contact with me or anyone else from our family, he can e-mail me. My mother maybe has heard stories about Canadian soldiers from my dad.

Het zou mooi zijn als de eenheid bekend was waar Charles Appleby in diende?
Dan kan er misschien herleidt worden of hij onderdeel uitmaakte van het Hoofdkwartier van de Canadezen in Vught of de rustende eenheden welke in heel Vught ondergebracht waren.

It would be nice if the unit Charles Appleby served in was known?
Then it may be possible to determine whether he was part of the Canadian Headquarters in Vught or the resting units that were housed throughout Vught.

I never had a reply from Martin Boers, do you know if he is still contactable?
My father was in Vught in 1945 and assume he met the Boers family at that time, he was in the British Army.
My father never discussed the war very much and he passed away in 1976.
I am interested if the Boers Family have any recollection of him. I realise that after all this time it is unlikely. I was hoping that Martin Boers had some information. Any information that anybody could provide would be much appreciated,

I posted this picture and tried to contact Martin Boers but without success. It is interesting that there is still some discussion on this story. I would be interested if any further information is discovered. My father brought the photo back to England in 1945. For information the photo had an address written on the back, it read;

Vught N-13
Holland

Ik vraag me af of op de foto ook de jongeman Boers staat, die later Boers Import-Export had, de overleden man van mevrouw Boers en haar dochters Heidi, Hadewij en Sabine, op Pepereind 11.

Beste Peter, bedankt voor je reactie! Hierboven gaf Martin aan dat hij zelf op de foto staat en dat hij meende dat deze in 1936 was gemaakt. In 1945 is de foto waarschijnlijk in de familie van John Appleby terechtgekomen.

Sta je zelf misschien ook op deze foto, Peter of herken je familieleden? Heb je een bepaalde reden waarom je aan het jaar 1945 denkt? Wij horen het graag!

Leuk om wat meer over deze bijzondere en zeldzame foto te weten, bedankt Martin! Wat een verschil trouwens met tegenwoordige camera's, die soms wel tientallen foto's per seconde kunnen maken...

Beste Volgers, de foto moet van ± 1936 zijn, ik ben geboren in 1930, in die tijd was fotograferen nog iets apart en duurde instelling lang vandaar hoogst waarschijnlijk die vrolijke gezichten! En die foto in 1945 is meegegeven in die tijd was er op foto gebied niets te krijgen. Ben benieuwd of wij verder komen.

Ik heb even achter de schermen gezocht naar het e-mailadres van John, maar helaas staat dit bij deze foto niet vermeld. Ik ga hier in huis nog even rondvragen of mijn collega's dit wellicht weten. Ik kom er zo snel mogelijk bij je op terug.
